South Carolina Hurricane Helene Housing Recovery Program

The South Carolina Office of Resilience administers the Hurricane Helene Recovery Program for residents with remaining damage to:

REPAIR , RECONSTRUCT, or REPLACE single-family owner-occupied homes
VOLUNTARY BUYOUT of single-family owner-occupied homes (if located in a floodplain)
REPAIR single-family rental units for affordable housing .

South Carolina Hurricane Helene Recovery expects to serve approximately 700 homeowners with the priority of assistance focused on the extremely low income, elderly, disabled, and families with children 17 years old or younger in the household.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has approved the South Carolina Office of Resilience’s Action Plan for spending over $150 million in Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds allocated following Hurricane Helene.
